Lantern_HPvsLP

Date:

November 2021

It comes from an installation course. As I do not understand any coding work. I am mainly responsible for the modeling and scene design part.
I need to do a lantern 3D model for the project. After I finished the lantern, a groupmate who was responsible for rendering it in unity said it is too high polygon. He said he only used a few hundred to thousand polygon count models before. As I did not learn Unity before, I just listen to him and give up the details and make a low poly version. (Turn 103309 to 3403 faces)
After finishing the low poly version and passed the job to him. He is responsible for doing wind blowing and rendering part in unity. However, the result is extremely different from my imagination. Therefore, I suggest doing wind blowing by keying animation in Maya. Then, he seem don’t understand the animation process and failed to render it, so I learnt how to use unity to render the animation.
When I try rendering, I think it is suitable to use a high poly count model and I succeed in rendering it. Although the low poly count lantern is useless for the project. I think the way to make it low is a good experience. I mainly turn the complicated surrounding design to a texture.
